Macrocosmica - Art of the Black Earth

Well, I doubt anyone saw this coming from a band featuring Brendan O'Hare, formerly of Mogwai and Teenage Fanclub. Opener (and tone-setter) "V For Vendetta" sounds more like ace Scottish band Eska fucking Isis with over-sized cabers than it does quaint indie-pop or wide-screen instrumental rock. "Art of the Black Earth" sounds like Motorpsycho and Wes Craven getting it on at a sleepover at Steve Albini's house, which, if you hadn't twigged, means it's ace. Want another recommendation? There's more profanity on this one album than Eminem has managed in his whole career, a choice line being "I have it on good authority that you fucking suck you c**t" from "Triskaidekaphobia". A final recommendation? Bassist Cerwyss O'Hare describes the sound of Macrocosmica as "like being hit repeatedly over the head by a bag of monkeys". Look, just buy it you fools.
