Macrocosmica - Ad Astra
January 3rd 1998

BIG TUNES. Radio-friendly choruses and hum-it-in-the-bath moments. You won't find any of these irritatingly cheery qualities on this debut L.P. by Glasgow's anti-popsters, Macrocosmica. Instead, this debut effort is a fine trend-bucking piece of space-rocking lunacy.
Imagine elephantine stoner rock being fed by Sonic Youth's sausage machine and you're halfway there. The Macro' mob serve up hot lashings of dischord and chaos in equal parts, veering from near spoken-word Velvets-like experimentation on "Rusty's Arms" through to astral noodlings on "I Am The Spaceship Digitalis". Stooping to lurch their way through the likes of "Orbit 48" along the way.
Recorded for a mere 300 notes, "Ad Astra" is a hulking first step into oblivion. You have been warned.
