FEB 2005

Album 'Art of the Black Earth' review: Is This Music?, February 2005 Self-recording and self re-leasing takes an iron will and the stamina of a stallion. Following on from debut Ad Astra, the new 'Cosmica line-up was bolstered by drums and guitar from Bangtwister, Glasgow's answer to the MC5. Sounding halfway between Shellac's disjointed hardcore and Black Sabbath's balls out blues metal, the former's sense of humour is as evident as the latter's sense of pop. "THIS IS. MY LINE. DON'T STEP OVER IT. THIS IS. MY SOUND. FUCK. YOU!" they howl on album highlight 'Lunarian'; equally terrifying and amusing in a way only they can be. They are one of the best live bands you'll see. JT
